Data Collection
Platform-
the choice of platform will be an app which can be downloaded on mobiles and
PC's, this is a choice down to the user.
Specification
- Workout app - depending upon which body
part is selected it will list various workouts that will work that area of the
body. Younger people care about their health so students will be easily
accessible.
Participants
- We are going to use students as our choice of participants in the study. This
is because they are easily accessible and young people interface with health
technologies well. Also people who are interested in health, healthy or not.
Recruitment
strategy - Online and randomly selective participants.
Methods
- Online questionnaires will be used and turned into visual data so user
requirements can be identified easily.
Interviews
- filmed and uploaded to YouTube.
Focus
groups - Randomly selected sample, use Dictaphone
What
data is being collected? - How the user interacts with the app and if they use
anything similar. Its also a chance to look at how we can design the layout
which would suit our target audience more and to keep users interested for a
longer period of time.

- What's the main function that you look for? Weight loss, blood pressure and such
- Would you connect your fitness app to social media?
- What device/platform do you use the majority of your apps on? Android/IOS, other?
- If your Gym was to send you push notifications to your smart phone, how often would you be happy to receive them? 1-10, 1=not at all, 10=happy to receive them whenever
- How fit are you? 1 - 10, 1=very unfit, 10=peak condition
- On a scale of 1-10, do you think a fitness app would help your workouts? 1=not at all, 10=absolutely

Interview
- We will look at previous apps and look at their design, in the interview
process we will ask which of the designs they like better and why, this will
give us a visual representation of what our users would require.
